In Disrepair

Conditioned into modern slaves
Of what should be a dying age
Because with every misconception
We set ourselves in the wrong direction
Like judgment of the opposite sex
comes from a place of disrespect
I am so frustrated
Because this shit is so outdated
Angry at the notion
That you get everything you want
You are the example for
Pathetic man that I abhore
Separated between
false claims of being strong or being weak
Crossing every line
Nothings blurred you’re just fucking blind
I refuse to pretend
That nothing’s wrong
With people taking advantage
Of the role you’ve been handed
Please accept this apology
On behalf of all their misdeeds
I would hang myself in effigy
Of everything that this world made you to be
I look outside and see a world so cold
Filled with people doing only what they’re told
I watched a man raise his fist in the air
Just to leave another woman in disrepair

I only see men divided between
What they get and who they can deceive
Looking past the challenges of the system
We’re forced to breathe in
One culture’s lies of
Self gain, self worth, and selfishness.
Conflict proves necessary.
So as I push myself on
To the next generation
Of weaker men I look behind me
Just to discover,
We could have been so much more
Than the shadows we cast on ourselves.
One nation under this god damn mentality
This is no nation
In this world we have so much to fight for
But to be honest I don’t think you appreciate what you have
Taking for granted the fruits of this planet
Tearing down ideals just to think of ourselves
What do we stand on if we’re only digging our own graves
What do we need if we all die empty handed
